September 24, 2007
URGENT MESSAGE: The Postal Service announced on September 24, 2007, that the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee will be reviewing our Nisei WWII Soldiers Stamp proposal at their next meeting (To Be Announced). Please take action now to show the Committee and Postmaster General John Potter that this stamp subject "has stood the test of time, is consistent with public opinion, and has broad national interest" (from Stamp Selection guidelines). If you haven't already done so, please write at least one personalized letter of support and mail it as soon as possible to the Stamp Committee (address below). Step up your efforts to gather petition signatures as well. We also need prominent community figures and organizations to show their support. Urge your local, state, and national lawmakers to send letters of support.
If possible, please make copies of letters and petitions and mail them to the National JACL address below. The main thing is that we respond now! Let's put our best foot forward and show as much public support for this stamp proposal at the Committee's next meeting as we can. Though we cannot attend the meeting as it is against their policy, we can demonstrate our support through the letters and petitions. Thank you!
