Internet petition has two-month birthday this week - Grows to 5900 signers in just two months

Since its inception on October 6th of this year, the internet petition has gathered over 5900 signatures. Signers have come from all across the U.S., and includes signers from overseas, including France and Japan. One of the most compelling features of the internet petition, besides its ability to reach so many people in so many places, is the optional space for public comments. Most of the comments are personal tributes to the Nisei WWII veterans from family members and friends. Some have even come from surviving veterans (and their family members) of the 36th Texas Division rescued by the 100th/442nd RCT in October 1944 during the famed "Rescue of the Lost Battalion." If you haven't already done so, take a look at who is signing and what people are saying. Go to ipetitions.com. Click on the "signers" tab at the top to read the public comments of those who chose to write them. There are some 115 pages (and counting) of names and comments to read.

The internet petition is supplementary to our growing list of 10,000 handwritten petition signers gathered so far. We encourage people to sign both. The handwritten petition is available for download at our website, www.niseistamp.org. The internet petition will be printed out with the names, emails, and comments, and sent to the Postal Service. The first 800 internet petition signatures were already printed out and sent to Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee in October. The signatures by the end of December will be sent next before the next committee meeting in January. All email addresses are kept private, only to be provided to the Postal Service as part of the documentation of support.

REMEMBER to sign the free, Online Petition to support the campaign.

Important Note: This internet petition is separate from the handwritten petitions, and we encourage you to sign both. The online petition allows you to leave comments. You can check out what other signers have written daily. Many give personal testimony in support of the stamp proposal (click on the "Signers" tab at the top of the petition to see them).
