Growing number of cities joining the campaign; L.A. Mayor Villaraigosa voices his support.

The California city councils of Port Hueneme and San Gabriel passed resolutions supporting the stamp campaign in November.

On November 7th, Port Hueneme City Councilman Murray Rosenbluth led the effort, stating his Jewish heritage as a large motivating factor. He pointed out the 522nd Field Artillery Battalion's liberation of Holocaust survivors in Dachau, stating that it was "a good deed that resonated with me."

The City of San Gabriel led their own united push for the stamp on November 6th, and joined the nearby City of Monterey Park which also did so from this region just east of Downtown Los Angeles.

Los Angeles City Councilwoman Jan Perry introduced a similar resolution for the City of Los Angeles on October 31st. The measure has not yet been voted upon, but will soon be considered by the council members. L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa expressed his support of the resolution saying in an October 22nd letter to the Council, "These courageous men and women have played an integral role in the shaping of our nation's history and I believe that their service deserves this commemoration."
